Juneteenth Houston is looking for designs that honor the history and impact of Juneteenth on Texas and its vibrant communities. The Juneteenth Logo changes every year to capture the history, legacy, and joy of Juneteenth. In our fifth year as the official citywide collaborative for Juneteenth in Houston, we are excited to preserve the historical importance of Juneteenth while highlighting the evolution of the communities its foster and birthed. Juneteenth Houston is an artistic representation of the number of years that have passed since the initial reading of the General Order #3 by General Granger and the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation by the US Colored Troops. This year’s number is 161.
the theme
This year's theme is Homecoming: Our Heritage, Our Home highlighting the beauty in our individual stories that make up the traditions and legacies we honor and celebrate during Juneteenth. Whether it's Granny's house, an HBCU, church, or social group we all have physical places we call home and communities where we fellowship. This year we celebrate and uplift those spaces and the people who curate them. The places where we find our individual and collective humanity.
design requirements
Designs must be original, scalable, adaptable, and free from copyright restrictions. The design must be an artistic representation of the number 161.
Your initial submission should include the completed design in jpeg or png format in color and black/white.
Color logos should only include the following three colors: Red #ca2224, Green #297846, Yellow #DF9D37. Black #000000 and White #ffffff may be used as accents, outlines, and highlights.

Top three designs will receive a submission honorarium
Selected design will receive a $500 stipend, be featured across Juneteenth Houston’s media platforms and merchandise with the artists receiving recognition.
The artist of the winning design will need to submit a high-quality file of your design in vector or raster format (color and black and white).
