Join us Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Emancipation Park for “Celebrate Freedom”. This event brings together 7 historic Black communities in Houston to celebrate the richness of our Culture, pay homage to the pioneers of Juneteenth, and experience Jubilee in a way that is uniquely our own.
Calling everyone from Independence Heights, Fourth Ward, Third Ward, Fifth Ward, Sunnyside, Acres Homes, and South Park. Eat, drink fellowship and experience a wide array of events, activities, and activations culminating in an Opening Ceremony to kickoff Juneteenth Celebrations in Houston!

Meet the designer of this years 2024 juneteenth houston logo John Nicklos II
JOHN NICKLOS II, is a community leader and visionary. A local Houston native with roots that span across many of Houston’s Historic Black Neighborhoods, he continues to champion new ideas, reshape narratives, and create space for Black Expansive Joy through art, design, business, and storytelling.
When creating the 2024 Juneteenth Houston Logo, he aimed to pay homage to the heritage of Juneteenth, celebrate our traditions, and inspire the future legacy of this Texas centered holiday.
